Amit Shah to hold public rally in Kolkata on 1 March.
Kolkata, Feb 25 (HS): As Union Home minister Amit Shah is coming to this ‘City of Joy’ on 1 March, the city police has verbally given the necessary permission to hold his public rally at the Shahid Minar Maidan in the heart of the city on that day clearing all previous confusion and doubts on the issue.
Informing this state BJP President Dilip Ghosh MP said after generating lots of confusion initially, the city police had finally given its nod, though verbally so far, for the public rally of Shah on that day.
Elaborating the reasons for the alleged confusion, Ghosh said it might be because of the ongoing Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations in the city for which the use of microphones was banned till 31 March.
But as the visit of the Union Home Minister was on Sunday, a holiday, there would be no problem in using microphones in the rally, Ghosh said adding that, however, the party had already received the green signal from the Army for holding the rally at Shahid Minar Maidan as per the norm since the land belonged to the Army.
Incidentally, Shah during his one day visit to the city apart from the public rally in support of CAA and NRC would hold a number of important meetings with senior party leaders in the state prior to the proposed Municipal elections in April.
